Distortion
Evolved from early distortion effects. A device that intentionally distorts the sound of an electric guitar severely. The electric guitar sound can be modulated by a distorter to produce a thin raspy sound or a jarring drum sound. Sustains are long to prolong note duration. Known as the "electric saxophone", it is the most used effect in rock music. It is often added to the prelude, interlude, ending, and colorful solo of a song. It is also used to imitate the rhythm of the snare drum and pronounce "dong dong". The sounds and playing techniques are varied, so I won't list them one by one. In recent years, there have been new developments in this effect, such as super feedback distortion, heavy metal distortion, turbo distortion, tube explosion distortion, and strong dynamic distortion. direction to enhance the experience.
Overdrive
Overdrive, exciter. Use moderate distortion (distortion) to produce a wind-like distortion effect to simulate the sound of wind instruments. It is often used in the lead, prelude, interlude, ending, etc. of the main melody of electric guitar. Produces a soft and round sound.
Chorus
Also known as the Harmonizer, it uses the BBD circuit to delay the sound wave and mix it with the normal sound wave, and output it through the main and right channels, so that the sound of the electric guitar wanders and reverberates, soft and broad like a mixed chorus effect. If only one output is used, the stereo chorus effect is poor. Chorus effects are often used to play broken chords or chord accompaniment. Its soft and ethereal voice gives people a lyrical feeling.
Phaser
It uses the mutual interference between the phase-shifted sound wave and the original sound wave to make the sound quite shocking and solid and elegant. It is different from the chorus in that the sound has a sense of color. One of the most used effects in the early days.
Flanger
Also called wah. Its circuit principle is basically the same as that of the chorus, with the addition of a feedback circuit. It is a kind of effect device that produces forehead sound. It is different from the chorus in that the sound has a rotating, elegant, late-generation feeling, and when it is slow, it is like a dream in space. It can make water wave sound or chicken wah sound when it is fast, and it can also produce strong sound like a jet engine. The sound changes more. It is often used to add special effects to music (song accompaniment) to enhance artistic appeal.
Delay (Delay)
An effect that produces reverb or echo. There are analog delays, digital delays, reverbs, etc. Their principle is basically the same, widely used in stage sound, karaoke. The delay time can be from 50 milliseconds to more than 1 second. The delay device for electric guitars is generally between 20 and 476 milliseconds. Short time produces reverberation effect (hall effect, long time produces echo). Valley effect is used by electric guitar through delay. After the timer, the sound is rich, full and spacious. Echoes are often used to add the last note when the electric guitar is playing the highest climax, so that several reflection echoes appear, like shouting to the valley.
Wah (WAH)
Unlike Flange. It's pronounced like a chicken - wow or wow - with its mouth open and closed. When it is slow, it is like people's shredding language, and when it is fast, it is like a frog. It is used for electric guitar to play witty and lively music. U can also tune out a tone like a stringed instrument. For example, the song "Govinda" played by the International Chaoyang Electronic Band uses this effect.
Equalizer
Also known as frequency compensator and equalizer, it is used to adjust the frequency response curve of the electric guitar. Since the frequency band center of the electric guitar is two frequency ranges lower than that of the general amplifier, the general amplifier tone controller cannot adjust the midrange of the electric guitar. Only a dedicated equalizer will do the job. At the same time, the equalizer can set the tone state of the electric guitar, so that a certain section of the music can express a cold, empty or vigorous and cheerful color. When you need to add it, you only need to step on the switch, which is very convenient.
Tone Boost (TOne B00Ate)
It is a device that enhances the mid-low frequency band of electric guitars, with a jump of 20 decibels. It is different from the equalizer, which can adjust the whole frequency band arbitrarily and only boost the mid-bass. It is often used in the lead performance to highlight the vigorous and cheerful tone of the electric guitar, emphasizing the sense of strength. This effect is added at the same time when using the distorter to perform the cadenza section, making the drum sound more powerful and majestic. Octave, a device that lowers the pitch of an electric guitar by one or two octaves to expand the performance of the electric guitar in the bass region, and can be played like an electric bass.
Pedal Volume
Although there are volume controls on the electric guitar panel or on the amp, the use of the volume pedal here is different from the general volume control, it is used as an expression pedal. When marked with strong and weak tone marks in the score, such as *" or PPP, etc. It is necessary to use the volume pedal to control the ups and downs of the volume. In the rock electric guitar playing method, there is a volume playing method (volume playing method), which is to use the volume pedal or rotate the volume potentiometer on the electric guitar with the pinky finger of the right hand to produce a sound without a sound head and the volume gradually increases, like playing a violin, there are looming sounds. a feeling of. As long as it can be used, other effects can be produced.
NOISE-Gate
When the circuit wiring is too long and the effectors are connected in series too much, it can eliminate the bad noise and keep the sound of the electric guitar pure and beautiful.
